Swainby itself is a quaint village located on the western fringe of the North York Moors National Park. A pretty stream flows adjacent to the High Street complete with resident ducks. The local area is a walkers paradise with direct access to the North York Moors many footpaths including the Cleveland Way. The National Cycle Route 65 passes directly through Swainby.
There are numerous other places of interest well worth a visit including; Heroit country, Heartbeat country, Castle Howard Stately Home and the famous North York Moors Steam Railway. The town of Helmsley with its array of quaint shops is an ideal venue for a day out. Further afield but within easy driving distance is the stunning City of York.
Yorkshires stunning Heritage east coast is just across the moors and well worth a full day out to itself. Visit the beautiful coastal fishing villages of Runswick Bay and Staithes, explore the Victorian sea side resort of Saltburn and Sandsends with its expanse of yellow sandy beach extending down the coast to the lively town of Whitby.
